Odroid-XU4 is one of the most powerful Single Board Computer in the market. It is powered by Samsung Exynos 5422 Octa-core CPU with 2 GB LPDDR3 RAM on board. It comes with 2 USB 3.0 ports, 1 USB 2.0 port and Gigabit Ethernet. To connect other electronic components, this board has 2 sets of GPIO header supporting GPIO, I2C, SPI, UART, ADC and I2S. Take note that all GPIO pins are at 1.8V level. You must use a level-shifter if you need to connect to higher voltage sensors and peripherals.
This board can run Linux or Android operating system installed in a micro SD card or eMMC module. This includes the latest Ubuntu 16.04 and Android 4.4 KitKat and 7.1 Nougat.
This is a power hungry board. The suitable power supply is 5V, 4A using a standard 5.5mm x 2.1mm barrel jack, sold separately.
There are two cooling options: the XU4 that comes with an active fan and the XU4Q, the quieter fanless version. The fan on the XU4 board only spin when the temperature rose to a certain threshold. Like any other fan, you can expect a slight noise when it spins. The XU4Q board has a taller heatsink mounted instead of a fan. Consider this if you prefer a quieter board.
