Fast Charging technology is a must-have feature in today's mobile phones as they come bigger capacity battery. A standard USB 2.0 port typically outputs 5V at 0.5A. Fast Charging protocols boost the voltage and/or current to a higher value to fill up the battery quicker. With the Power Delivery (PD) specification, the total output power can go higher to cater for even a demanding device such as a laptop.
This module is based on IP6518 IC. It has a 5.5mm x 2.1mm DC jack that accepts 10.5V to 32V DC input. The common on-board connector is very handy, no soldering required. You can use a spare DC power supply from old laptop or printer for example. This board supports various fast charging protocols including Power Delivery PD2.0, Quick Charge QC3.0/2.0, Huawei FCP, Mediatek PE 2.0 and BC1.2. It is small enough to be embedded anywhere, including in a car. This is a buck controller module, so make sure that the input voltage is higher than the charging voltage supported by your device.
Other than battery charging, you can also use this module to power almost anything that requires 5V, 12V, 15V or 20V using the appropriate USB PD trigger cable.
