Under continuous heavy loads, the temperature of a single board computer will rise until it hits what is called thermal throttling - performance reduction to bring down the temperature. A heatsink and active cooling fan combination is useful to bring down and maintain the temperature. This will help to avoid thermal throttling and keep the performance to the optimum level.
This product uses the newly introduced two mounting points for heatsink and a dedicated 4-pin FAN connector on the Pi 5. To install, first remove the protective backings and apply the thermal pads on the appropriate chips. Then, carefully align the heatsink with the mounting points. Press down the two spring loaded push pins at the same time to secure the mounting. Finally, connect the fan cable to the FAN connector. The cable can only be connected in one way. Make sure you do not force it to be connected on the wrong way.
The temperature trigger condition and speed of the fan is actively managed by the Raspberry Pi firmware.

Caution note:
This product is designed as fit-once-only. Constant application and removal might cause the push pin and thermal pads to degrade. When this happen, the cooler might not clip securely and not able to perform cooling function effectively.
