The Pi is designed having a full-sized SD card slot with more than half of the card sticking out when in use. There are chances that you could knock it out from the slot which could potentially damage it. Then there is the potential theft issue. The card can be stolen easily - something that you might want to consider when putting it out in public area.
We all know that microSD card is ubiquitous in mobile world. This adapter not only allows you to use a microSD card with your Pi, it also fits nicely, almost within the footprint of the Pi. You'll have a near Raspberry Pi set up. No more SD card sticking out like a sore thumb!
To use it, just slide your microSD card into the push in/out connector and insert the microSD adapter firmly into the SD card slot of your Pi and you are good to go!
This product is for the older Raspberry Pi Model A and B and not for the newer Raspberry Pi model which has microSD card slot.
Note: This adapter is meant for use with standalone Raspberry Pi board. Approximately 5mm clearance is required at the bottom of the board. Check if your case has this.
