The Pi is designed having a full-sized SD card slot with more than half of the card sticking out when in use. There are chances that you could knock it out from the slot which could potentially damage it. Then there is the potential theft issue. The card can be stolen easily - something that you might want to consider when putting it out in public area.
We all know that microSD card is ubiquitous in mobile world. This adapter not only allows you to use a microSD card with your Pi, it also fits nicely, almost within the footprint of the Pi. You'll have a near Raspberry Pi set up. No more SD card sticking out like a sore thumb!
This adapter uses a latching type microSD card holder. To use it, slide the latch towards the 'UNLOCK' mark and lift it up. Put the microSD card into the slot with the gold contact facing down making connection with the golden pins of the holder. Then, put down the latch and slide it back towards the 'LOCK' position, securing the microSD card to the adapter.
Will this adapter fits in my case? The adapter is about 2 mm thicker than the standard SD card. Check if your case have this clearance at the bottom. Some of the acrylic cases in our store have special cut-out that allows you to remove the microSD card without having to remove the adapter from the board.
This product is for the older Raspberry Pi Model A and B and not for the newer Raspberry Pi model which has microSD card slot.
