
A multimeter is another "must have" item in every electronic hobbyist's toolbox. It is a useful hardware debugging tool. At the very least, a multimeter should able to measure basic parameters such as voltage, current, resistance and to do continuity check (with buzzer).
This digital multimeter (DMM) has a balance between price and features and has become our favourite DMM for everyday use. Other than the basic features mentioned above, this DMM also can measure capacitance, diode test and frequency test.
The auto ranging feature is great for beginners. It automatically selects the correct range for your measurement so that the most significant digit will be shown on the display. This is in contrast with manual ranging where you have to know which range of value your component falls under to get the reading (Do you remember the resistor colours by heart?). The downside is, you might have to wait about 1-3 seconds for the measurement to stabilize.
