This is a compact MP3 player/decoder board which can play MP3 audio file from a removable media without having to connect to a micro controller. Great for hacking, this module can be embedded to your project.
User control is performed using 4 push-buttons on board. Depending on the button, a different function is triggered by short pressing or long pressing it. A long press is defined by holding the button for at least 2 seconds.
The board supports two type of removable media with MP3 files - micro SD card or USB thumb drive. Upon powering it up, the board will try to play from the micro SD card by default. If no micro SD card present, it will play from the USB drive. You can switch media type by long pressing the "Mode" button.
To get the sound output, you can plug a headphone or an external speaker to the 3.5mm audio jack. There is also a screw terminal where you can connect wires from external speaker. This is driven by an on-board 4W mono amplifier.
The board can be powered using standard micro usb cable from a portable battery or USB wall plug. Alternatively, you can solder 3.7V lithium battery to the solder pads next to the micro USB jack. Voltage between 3.7V to 5.5V can be used but 5V is recommended.
* Removable media is not included
