
Turn your Raspberry Pi into a digital TV server!
Digital terrestrial television is beginning to make inroads with many countries are switching off their analog TV broadcast. Many new television nowadays comes with integrated digital TV tuner. This TV HAT add-on board receives digital TV channels and let your Raspberry Pi stream them over a network to other devices like a smart TV, mobile phone, tablet or a PC.
This HAT supports the common DVB-T2 and DVB-T standards which are widely used in most countries. It can be used with any 40-pin Raspberry Pi boards such as Pi 3B+, Pi 3B, Pi 3A+, Pi 2 and Pi Zero WH. Pi 4 or Pi 3B+ is highly recommended if you are watching TV on the Pi itself.
Looking at the software side, you can install tvheadend - an open source TV server which supports Electronic Program Guide (EPG) and Digital Video Recorder (DVR). You can use any media player software that supports TV streaming over a network. This includes Kodi, Flex and VLC.
Take note that this HAT is just a component and not a set-top box. Other components like a Raspberry Pi and UHF digital TV antenna are not included. License or approval might be required to receive broadcast television in your country.
