Raspberry Pi do not have a physical ON/OFF button. The common practice is to apply or kill the power by pressing the power switch (or plug and unplug power) to turn the board ON or OFF. It is always recommended to safely shutdown you Pi by sending a shutdown command (sudo shutdown -h now) and only then you remove the power. This can be troublesome especially in a headless setup, where no keyboard or display is connected. If you kill the power without properly shutting down the OS, there is a risk of corrupting the micro SD card.
This add-on board plugs directly on top of the Pi to give you 2 different ways of turning your Pi ON and OFF, using the on-board push button or using the included remote control. The micro USB power supply is connected to the board. When the button is pressed, the board will provide power to the Pi. When the button is pressed again, a shutdown signal will be sent and the Pi will begin shutdown processes. The board will wait until the shutdown is completed before powering off the Pi.
This add-on board is compatible with all Raspberry Pi boards with 40 GPIO pins and not the older 26 pins.
When this add-on board is in used, do not connect power to the micro USB port on the Raspberry Pi. Apply micro USB power to this add-on board only.
Add-On Board Dimension: 65mm x 30 mm x 20mm
