This DC power jack can be panel mounted. So, if you are building a kiosk or put your board in an enclosure, you can use this DC barrel jack as a power interface to your project.

The connector is a regular 5.5mm x 2.1mm barrel jack which is common in electronic world.

It comes with a threaded body. It measures close to 10mm, so you can use it against a thick material such as wood, board or whatever you want to use as a panel. A metal nut is included. You can screw it to the body to secure the jack.

On the back, there are 3 terminals. The odd pin is connected to the center tip/pin of the jack. This is the positive voltage pin. The other 2 identical pins are normally closed which means they are shorted by default. When a DC plug is inserted, the connection between these two pins breaks. So, you can use this for building a circuit which detects the insertion of the DC plug.
