This product is useful when you need a more durable NFC tag that you can carry around. Mifare 1K tags are great for tasks automation on your phone because of the larger amount of memory space it holds.
Mifare Classic 1K chip has been in the market since the 90's and probably is the most widely used contactless solution for ticketing, door access, transportation and ticketing. It is an open secret that the security for Mifare Classic has been compromised and it is possible to duplicate or clone this chip to another. Despite that fact, this relatively low cost chip is still being used in many legacy system.
A note on compatibility:
Mifare Classic is able to store NDEF data eventhough it is not a NFC Forum mandated tag type. While it is not officially NFC Forum Tag Type compatible, it is still one of the most widely used chip in the world. Many NFC enabled devices are able to read and write Mifare Classic tags. It has been tested to work with some of today's Android and Symbian mobile phones. Some phones do not read Mifare Classic at all. It also might not work with all future NFC devices. Please contact us if you are not sure about your device compatibility with Mifare Classic 1K.
For personal usage, Mifare Classic is fine but we would NOT recommend this for business usage because you can't control which device is used.
