MFRC522 or RC522 from NXP is a reader/writer chip for contactless communication at 13.56MHz. It supports ISO/IEC 14443 A/MIFARE variant and this includes Mifare 1K, Mifare 4K, Ultralight and DESFire EV1 tags.
MFRC522 RFID Breakout Board enables you to add contactless communication in your electronics or embedded prototyping project. It has a built-in PCB antenna, tuned to 13.6MHz is occupying the greater half of the board. The communication range is up 5cm.
This board uses SPI communication to talk to a controller. It is compatible with 3.3V systems such as the Raspberry Pi.
Apart from the breakout board, headers (not soldered) and 2 sample Mifare tags are included.
