This high power 3W bead LED outputs ultra bright cool white lighting. It is best driven with a constant current of 700 mA compared to tens of mA for regular LEDs.
To avoid heat dissipation problem, the LED is mounted on 20mm star shaped metal-core printed circuit board (MCPCB). It has aluminium base which acts as a heat spreader. All high power LEDs generate a fair amount of heat. If you are going to run them at full power for a considerable amount of time, you will need a bigger heat sink. Additional heatsink can be mounted easily to the base of this LED.
It is easy to connect the LED to the voltage source. Just solder the connection to the + and - pads.
Confused between cool white and warm white? Cool white LED is brighter of the two. It appears more bluish. On the other hand, warm white looks closer to yellow, similar to incandescent light.
