Heat shrink tube shrinks to about half of its diameter when heat is applied. It is used for insulation, providing abrasion resistance and general protection for stranded and solid wire conductors, connections and joints. It also prevents short circuits and makes wiring jobs look nice and neat. When shrunk, the tubing wraps tightly around a joint and holding it secure. Additionally, it can also be used for marking wires, tools etc. for easy identification.
This product consists of 530 pieces heat shrink tubes in different sizes and colours, housed in a plastic carrying box.
To use it:
Select tube which is just slightly bigger in diameter than your wire
Cut and trim the tube. Make sure it is long enough to cover the joint with some extra on both ends
Place the unshrunk tube on one side of the wire and then, make the joint
Slide the tube over the joint
Use a heat gun to shrink the tube in place. You could also use a lighter or the tip of your soldering iron, by bring it close but not touching the tube
