VGA might be considered an end-of-life technology and not supported directly by the Raspberry Pi. But hey, you don't have to throw away your VGA display just yet. This HDMI-to-VGA converter might be a solution for you.
You have a VGA-only monitor or projector and you want to use it for your HDMI device such as a Raspberry Pi or a laptop. No problem, you need a HDMI to VGA adapter and this cable does just that.
Unlike other cheaper alternatives, this adapter can be externally powered so that it doesn't draw too much current from the HDMI output. Connect the micro USB port to a common 5V powered USB port such as a USB hub or a mobile phone charger to power the HDMI-VGA adapter. The micro USB to USB cable is included.
This adapter also converts audio signal from the HDMI and has a regular 3.5mm audio jack that you can connect to your speaker. A 3.5mm male-to-male audio cable is included in the package.
We tested the adapter with a Raspberry Pi it works right out of the box. Depending on your VGA display, you might need to modify the config.txt file and use hdmi_safe=1 setting.
Note: We have black and white version of the converter. We will send them randomly.
