This is a DC to DC step-up/boost converter module. You can also use it as a DIY power supply unit. It is almost as good as a bench power supply.
This module can output in constant current and constant voltage mode. The input terminal can accept anything between 6V to 40V and boost it to anything between 8V to 80V. As this is a step-up converter, the output voltage cannot go below the input voltage.
Unlike the cheaper step-up module where user has to wind the potentiometer to change the output, this module uses a microcontroller and push-buttons to digitally control the output for both voltage and current. You can also store up to 10 pre-set values and can call them up the next time you want to use it. This module has a digital display to make read-out more convenient.
Take note that the it will take some time for this boost converter to ramp up the output voltage to the preset value once the boost function is enabled. Also, another important point is that when the boost function is disabled, the output voltage is equivalent to input voltage and not zero. Pay attention to the polarity on the board when making connection.
Input push-buttons
There are 4 push-buttons:
Display
The display is made of 4-digit 7-segment LED. As you cycle through the menu using the push buttons, the display changes. Value for voltage and current are displayed.
There are 3 status indicator LEDs. They are marked as CV (constant voltage), CC (constant current) and OUT (output).
