This is a 40-pin strip of standard 2.54mm pitch single row, female header. It is useful when interfacing or making connection by soldering them on PCB. It fits into 2.54mm male header that commonly found on development boards such as Raspberry Pi's GPIO pins.
You only need a few pins and not 40? No problem. You can cut them down to the number of pins that you need. First count the number of pins that you need. Then pull out the next pin using a plier. Using a cutter, cut through the empty spot.
